Gomio.com is the brainchild of "The European Hostel Cooperation ltd."(EHC), an Irish company founded in April 2004 with it's main office in Berlin, owned and operated by a group of more than 10 European companies, owning and/or operating more than 40 independent hostels and low-budget accommodation all over Europe, among them The Bulldog in Amsterdam, The Ashlee House in London, the Sea Point in Barcelona, the Circus Hostels in Berlin, the Sir Toby’s in Prague, the Euro Youth Hotel in Bad Gastein, the 3 Ducks in Paris and the Sleepy Lion in Leipzig plus many more.

The EHC was founded with the idea in mind, that an ever growing hostel infrastructure in Europe needs an organisation that is trying to represent Hostelling to the outside world, supports hostels with software and other tools, marketing, advice if wanted and the chance to ‘’network’’ on an annual European hostel meeting.

Besides the above mentioned commitments the EHC is operating gomio.com, a backpacking portal that is trying to satisfy all informational needs a backpacking traveller might have, and allows him to book hostels and low-budget-accomodation all over Europe.
